Okay, once again...
1) DOT 3 brake fluid and 0000 steel wool may get it.
2) Some people here swear by oven cleaner to remove the crud.
3) I like 0000 steel wool soaked in kerosene. Seems to peel most anything off of chrome or stainless steel.
4) If none of these do the trick, your stuck living with it or getting replacement parts. My suggestion is to live with it. These bikes are designed as riders, cheap fun and games type riders. Mine gets washed once a year, maybe, the oil changed every 6 months or so, just your typical rider bike. I don't care if mine is pretty, if it smokes, if the front brake works, etc. If the motor will fire over and pull me around, I'll ride it 'til it falls apart.

Don't sweat the small stuff on thses. My bike has about 8200 miles on it, the head pipe chrome is burned off, from the head to below the first bend, the rest is truning purple on the way to rust. My second factory muffler spits out metal flakes, there is rain suit material burned on to it from 1998, and it still runs fine. Remember, chrome won't get you home.
